Youth Jiu Jitsu Classes
Jiu-jitsu equips kids with essential life skills by combining practical self-defense with physical conditioning. Kids learn to overcome adversity and regulate their emotions as they build self-confidence. The mental skills learned on the mats translate into positive behavior and resiliency in their everyday lives. The shared physical and mental challenges faced on the mat fosters a supportive community where kids learn mutual respect and what it means to be a good teammate.
Here at BABJJ, we believe our youth learn best in a structured, fun environment. We pair traditional martial arts drilling techniques with fun, constraints-led games to improve our young athletes grappling ability. When they are ready, we encourage coach-monitored sparring so the kids can pressure test the skills they have acquired. This is where kids learn that mistakes are part of the learning process and gain the ability to adapt in real-time. One of the best perks of being a martial arts instructor is seeing the personal growth and improvement in the kids. We look forward to helping your child unlock their potential!

Foundations Class
If you are new to jiu-jitsu then this is the class for you! We have created a low-pressure, supportive environment to introduce you to the 'gentle art'. No need to 'get in shape first" - all fitness levels are welcome! Notice we call the class Foundations and not Basics. Here at BABJJ, we believe a strong foundation is absolutely imperative to building a solid jiu-jitsu game. The flashy IG-worthy submissions are great, but they do you no good if you can't get out from under side-control. This class is designed specifically for beginners who have no prior experience in grappling. We promote learning the essential principles such as posture and leverage rather than relying on strength and athleticism. In this class you will learn the core positions, such as closed guard and side control as well as practice key movements like bridging and shrimping. We will go over basic sweeps, escapes and submissions to build muscle memory.
New members may also attend the All-Levels Classes, but we highly encourage Foundations for our members new to grappling. Experiencing practitioners wanting to strengthen their fundamentals are welcome to attend as well.

Workshop
This class is taught every other Friday. Students are introduced to techniques and drills outside of our normal curriculum. After the structured portion of class, members are encouraged to pursue their own interests in BJJ. This is a time set aside for members to try something they saw on social media or work a position they are stuck on. To get the most out of this class it is suggested that students have completed our Foundations course.
